MVHS Celebrates Emergency Medical Services Week

From Sunday, May 19, through Saturday, May 25, 2019, Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) celebrated Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week to honor EMS practitioners and the important work they do in our nation’s communities.

Prior to the week beginning, a banquet and award ceremony was hosted at Harts Hill Inn, located in Utica, New York, for the local Mohawk Valley EMS Community. Paul Davidson, MD, FACS, trauma surgeon at MVHS, received the Midstate Physician of Excellence Award during the banquet dinner. Additionally, Anthony Salce, education training coordinator of the Midstate Regional EMS Council, received the Stop the Bleed Award, and Stacey Walton, manager of the Emergency Department at the St. Elizabeth Campus, received the Quality/Process Improvement Award.

Alongside the blog post were two Facebook videos — both edited and directed by Lince — recognizing EMS staff during national EMS Week:

“National EMS for Children Day with MVHS” video

In honor of #NationalEMSforChildrenDay, Daniel Broedel, regional director of the Midstate EMS Program at MVHS, highlights the support from the Children’s Miracle Network and the commitment from the MVHS EMS providers, which improves pediatric emergency preparedness each day.

Since the inception of the #StoptheBleed Program at Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) a year ago, approximately 120 instructors have joined and over 2,000 individuals have taken the certified training course.

Anthony Salce, Education Training Coordinator of the Midstate EMS Program at MVHS, further explains the program’s importance in our local communities.
